Organisation Profile
Kheth’Impilo AIDS Free Living is a national not for profit organisation that is uniquely positioned to address HIV /AIDS in the high prevalence districts through-out South Africa. The organisation’s mission is to support the South African Government in achieving its goals to scale up quality services for the management of HIV/AIDS in the Primary Health Care sector as outlined in the National Strategic Plan. We take pride in our work, focusing on the actual implementation of realistic and attainable interventions and solutions that address the needs of people infected and affected by HIV / AIDS.
The organisation’s operations include clinical interventions managed by the Health Services Cluster, which include HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT), Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), HIV patient wellness, Treatment, Care and support, as well as TB treatment, care and support.
The clinical programme is supported by the Community Services Cluster which provides a community based adherence support and psycho-social interventions for patients through its Patient Advocate model. Ongoing treatment, counselling and psycho-social support at the community level is provided with special attention paid to the very ill, pregnant, TB infected, children and adolescents, as well as patients struggling with disclosure. Patient Advocates are the link between the clinical services and the community, and enables Kheth’Impilo to identify challenges that may become barriers to treatment and refer patients for services to address these challenges.
We are one of the leading national not for profit organisations in our field and the Kheth’Impilo programmes are specifically designed to scale up prevention, access to treatment, care and support services to those infected and affected by HIV, including their surrounding communities.
